RECENT HAPPENINGS AT THE U.N. and back in Washington, D.C., questioned more than Trump’s truthfulness (climate change “the greatest con job ever perpetrated on the world,” inflation “defeated,” grocery prices “are down,” electric bills “coming way down”). Speaking to knowledgable people from around the world, Trump’s comments bordered on insanity during the 57 minutes of his ranting (scheduled for the U.N.’s customary 15-minute allotment). Trump claimed that he “ended seven wars,” had “the highest poll numbers ever,” and brought “$17 million in foreign investment,” (nearly double the number issued by the White House just a day before).
Plenty of reputable sources (among them, ABC News, CNN, EuroNews, The Guardian, The New York Times, PBS, and Time) have caught these lies.
Meanwhile, Back at Fox News… Emily Compagno reports “The UN Was ‘Rocked’ by Trump’s ‘Truth Bomb.’ ” Other Fox News cited “Trump Rips U.N. For Broken Escalator & Prompter.”
At the Same Time… Yahoo!News Daily Beast reports “Insiders Spill Embarrassing Truth About Trump’s UN Pratfalls.” It was identified that the escalator’s safety switch may have been triggered by a White House photographer. And the White House was responsible for its own prompter.
Whom to believe? Whom to believe?

ICE Shootings in Dallas, Therefore Send Troops to Portland. J. David Goodman and Christina Morales report, “Attack on Dallas ICE Was ‘Very Definition of Terrorism,’ Prosecutor Says,” The New York Times, September 25, 2025.

And Claire Rush and Chris Megerian report, “Trump Says He Will Send Troops to Portland, Oregon, in Latest Deployment to U.S. Cities,” AP News, September 27, 2025.
Wait. Did I read that correctly: Not Dallas, but Portland??
Sure enough, in a Truth Social posting, the president wrote that the troops would “protect War ravaged Portland” and protect Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities that he claimed are “under siege from attack by Antifa and other domestic terrorists.”
“War-ravaged”? “attack by Antifa”? Does capitalizing the latter legitimize this fictitious nonentity? Were I to call Trump an “Autocrat” (or any other A word), would the upper case confirm the claim?

A Satiric View. My favorite observation of this Trump inanity comes from Andy Borowitz: “Federal Troops Arrive in Portland and Immediately Form Bands,”The Borowitz Report, September 27, 2025.

Image by Tatiana Nekrasova in The Borowitz Report.
“Across the city,” Andy reports, “personnel who were until recently members of the military were seen at pawn shops, trading in their automatic weapons for mandolins and zithers. Within minutes, Portland’s bulletin boards became plastered with flyers for such newly-minted bands as The Kristi Nomads and Hegadeth.”

Flyer seen on the bulletin board of Matchagasm, a local establishment via The Borowitz Report.
The military/indie band actions were not without protests: Andy notes, “As the city’s sidewalks transformed into an obstacle course of harmonica-blowing buskers, one longtime Portland resident commented, ‘We didn’t need Federal troops, but we really didn’t need more bands.’ ”
Well, if I had to make a choice…. ds
