TRUMP CHAOS PART 2

TALES OF TRUMP CHAOS HAVE APPEARED in news sources around the world. Here in Part 2 we continue with a Midshippie Reading List and the idealogical matter of a Queens Felon’s pompadour.

Midshippie Reading List. John Ismay writes in The New York Times, April 11, 2025, “Who’s In and Who’s Out at the Naval Academy Library.” Ismay describes, “An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office resulted in a purge of books critical of racism but preserved volumes defending white power.”

Image of the U.S. Academy by Patrick Semansky/Associated Press. Here’s the list of 381 books removed from the Nimitz Library.

Specifically, Ismay notes, “Gone is ‘I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,’ Maya Angelou’s transformative best-selling 1970 memoir chronicling her struggles with racism and trauma. Two copies of ‘Mein Kampf‘ by Adolf Hitler are still on the shelves.”

“ ‘The Camp of the Saints’ by Jean Raspail is still on the shelves,” notes Ismay. “The 1973 novel, which envisions a takeover of the Western world by immigrants from developing countries, has been embraced by white supremacists and promoted by Stephen Miller, a senior White House adviser.”

Ismay continues, “ ‘The Bell Curve,’ which argues that Black men and women are genetically less intelligent than white people, is still there. But a critique of the book was pulled.”

What absurd anti-DEI chaos. It’s right up there with the Enola Gay being deep-sixed only to soar again when someone with any sense corrected the error.

Pompadour Ego? Or Simply Obama-Biden Bashing? Jemma Crew reports in the BBC, April 10, 2025, “Trump Signs Order to ‘Make American’s Showers Great Again.’ ”

Image from BBC.

Crew reports, “The U.S. president is ordering the energy secretary to rescind a change introduced by Barack Obama that restricted multi-nozzle showers from discharging over 2.5 gallons of water per minute overall.”

“According to the Appliance Standards Awareness Project, which shared a factsheet in 2024,” Crew writes, “efficiency standards in the U.S. set more than three decades ago ‘reduce water waste… save consumers money on their water and energy bills and help protect the environment.’ Under a 1992 energy law showerheads in the U.S. are not allowed to produce more than 2.5 gallons (9.5l) of water per minute. Obama introduced a redefinition, as part of an Energy Conservation Program, that meant for showers with multiple nozzles, the restriction applied overall rather than to each nozzle.”

Head Versus Nozzles. Crew recounts, “At the end of Trump’s first term, in 2020, he moved to allow each nozzle to produce up to 2.5 gallons a minute. But when Joe Biden succeeded him as president, he stopped that.” And, now, of course, Trump has rescinded the Biden judgement.

So, today, with the world’s financial markets in chaos, our  government falling apart at the seams, the meaning of due process in disarray, and words like diversity, equity, and inclusion having become pejoratives, we can be comforted that our Queens Felon can say, “I like to take a nice shower to take care of my beautiful hair.” ds
